The Perfect Economic Storm

Hurricane Katrina

Hi there!  This blog goes along with the November 2008 sermon series, “Surviving the Perfect Economic Storm” at Peachtree Community Church in Villa Rica, GA.

Fall 2008 finds us in the craziest economy of most of lives…politicians and media are frequently saying this is the worst U.S. financial crisis since the Great Depression.  Kinda scary, isn’t it?

Think about the financial “weather conditions” that are coming together right now to create the perfect economic storm:

Rising Gas Prices
Rising Food Prices
Mortgage Crisis
Housing Market Stagnation
Stock Market Plunge
Credit Crunch
Job losses

Any one of these makes for a rainy season in the economy, all of them together…well, you know what happened at the end of the movie, “The Perfect Storm”, right?

But God is in control, and He actually has plans for His people during this crisis.  We’ll be talking about it on Sunday mornings, but I also encourage you to come here to share your ideas for surviving the storm, voice your concerns, and hear from others.

We can get through this together!

I look forward to hearing from you!

Great idea to help people out Pastor and Team. We can all use the tips and many of us just need to learn to trust the Lord with our money first.

Tricia, Awesome to know you’re reading and THANK YOU for the kind comments. Would love for you and Mike to come over tonight (Friday) to talk some more strategies.

Hi Toery, Thanks so much for the encouragement! You hit the nail on the head. God wants us to trust Him. One of His primary purposes for money in our lives is to teach us to trust in Him. It’s one of the hardest things to do to take those first steps, but He proves himself trustworthy and it gets easier and easier. Pray with me that Peachtree will trust the Lord more through our current series.

I loved this series Pastor Dave! There were a lot more economic “storms” than I realized. I’ve made a commitment for 2009 to put God 1st when it comes to my finances…. ALL of them! :)
